2024 marks The Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce’s 79th Anniversary.
Formed in January of 1945, the Chamber’s purpose is to create a positive business environment. It is a catalyst for business focused on creating sustainable economic growth and improving the area’s quality of life. The Chamber is people-driven and is the engine that provides a strong, stable business environment for our entire area.
The Chamber’s 2024 Strategic Plan offers a very diverse and varied list of committees addressing important community issues with an emphasis on economic development. The Chamber is the center of influence for a prosperous community.
The Chamber’s tourism division, The Brazosport Convention & Visitors Council, promotes the entire area as a family and convention destination.
Our area’s excellent quality of life, economic diversity, cultural and recreational opportunities makes it the destination where business want to locate and people desire to live.
What the Chamber Is
The chamber of commerce is a voluntary business membership organization. Members choose to invest their time and money where it makes a real difference – in their own business community.
Chamber membership is open to anyone interested in helping to develop the community. Membership supports a stronger local economy: more businesses and more jobs with higher wages and better benefits, lower taxes and better services.
The work of the chamber is financed by the investments of its members. Membership investment levels are designed to permit even the smallest businesses to become chamber members.
The chamber of commerce is guided by a board of directors, elected by the membership they serve. Chambers are staffed, as economically feasible, by a group of non-profit professionals dedicated to implementing the plans put together by the board.
What the Chamber Does
The chamber gives members a place to belong, where they can collaborate with others, energized by a common drive and passion for excellence.
The chamber gives its members access to top business leaders, decision-makers and potential new clients.
The chamber gives members a place where they can become engaged, sharing a vision for the future of their community and sharing the collective influence to make it happen.

How the Chamber Functions
The chamber of commerce functions through the working committees and task forces of the organization.
Careful study is made of the community needs and an action blueprint, the Program of Work, is designed. The ultimate goal is to create a pro-business environment that allows members to prosper.
Every chamber member has a voice in determining the policies and projects that the chamber undertakes. Every member is needed on active committees to help achieve the chamber’s goals.
