During April thousands of migratory songbirds arrive at stopover habitat along the coast in Quintana. At Spring Fling, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory volunteers and staff provide local birding information, bird checklists, sell snacks, post the daily bird list on the white board, and help identify birds for novice birders.  

This year's event includes several free activities for children, including: archery, fishing for catfish, BB gun range, bug sweeping, microscopes, touch tanks and reptiles. The banding station is an excellent opportunity to see birds up close and to learn about birds that live or migrate through the Brazosport Area. Watch volunteers collect baseline data on bird populations at the sanctuary.
